We’re here just after the September school holidays, so it’s not as crowded, there are better chances for special deals and the weather is much warmer than Melbourne’s and not as hot and humid than it will be around Christmas.
It really is a delightful getaway for us. We can hear the surf from our room at night; there’s 7km of walkway alongside the beach; the walk into Kingscliff is only 2km and brings you to a picturesque river entrance and a lovely little town with restaurants, cafes, shops. Season Restaurant in the Peppers Resort itself is excellent – expert cooking of local produce, a good wine selection and competent service. Going once was just not enough.
But young families will really feel it was worth booking here. Pools are heated and safely enclosed; there’s a whole range of cycles to hire for those pathways; there’s kayaking, snorkeling and fishing etc etc. Adjacent to Peppers there’s a shopping strip with some more restaurants, an IGA and…a bistro which offers free kids’ meals from 5.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
To top it all off, staff give you a genuine country friendliness that always changes a holiday from normal to a little bit more special.
